Contract of lease for an irrigation channel on the jazīra of Fustat (the Nile island later known as Rawḍa). Dated: 18 (or maybe 28?) Shawwāl 407 AH (March 1017 CE). The lessees are Maḥāṣin b. Sayyidihim b. ʿAbdallāh; Muḥammad b. Abdallāh; Abū l-Faraj b. Sayyidihm; Khalīl al-Naṣrānī; Sulaymān b. Maḥāsin b. Naṣr al-Naṣrānī. The lease is for a period of 5 months, beginning on 23 Shawwāl 407. The lessees are to pay 600 dirhams paid in 5 monthly installments (munajjama) of 120 dirhams. The property borders that of the town (Fustat) and contains an orchard of date palms, strawberries, sycamore. No signatures are preserved. Reused for Hebrew poetry.
Legal document. One of three copies (T-S 12.580 is another). Location: Fustat. Dated: Adar 1368 Seleucid, which is February/March 1057 CE. In which Ṭoviyya b. Sahl ha-Levi undertakes to work in a glass factory at the bellows for a period of one year for wages of 5 dirhams plus 1 dirham lunch. The factory belongs to ʿEli/ʿAllūn b. Shelomo ha-Kohen and Ṭoviyya/Ṭībān b. Yeshuʿa ha-Kohen. There is a fine of 5 dinars for violating the contract. Unsigned. There is a draft of another legal document on verso mentioning [...] b. Yefet ha-Kohen.
Legal fragment in the hand of Halfon b. Menashshe ha-Levi. Concerning work on a large furnace (al-kūr al-kabīr). Mentions 140 pounds; 12 dirhams; a wage of 9 dirhams for every worker; and 5 dinars which have been advanced.
